What You Will DoWe are seeking an experienced Packaging Material Science Leader to join our Research & Development team at Kenvue.
As the functional leader for packaging material science, this position will play a pivotal role in shaping the material strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring the performance standards of packaging quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability.
Your expertise will be critical in designing and optimizing packaging materials for our global brand programs.
Key
Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Provide strategic direction and leadership to the R&D Packaging team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
Packaging Material Strategy:
Develop and implement the company's packaging material strategy, aligning it with brand product development goals, regulatory requirements, and sustainability initiatives.
Material Development:
Lead efforts in designing and developing new packaging materials, focusing on enhancing product protection, aesthetics, and environmental impact.
Testing and Evaluation:
Lead comprehensive evaluations of packaging materials to validate their performance under various conditions.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay current with packaging regulations and quality standards, ensuring all packaging materials adhere to industry and regulatory guidelines.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with Packaging and all R&D functions, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to integrate packaging requirements seamlessly into product development.
Innovation:
Explore emerging trends and technologies in packaging materials, identifying opportunities for innovation and sustainability improvements.
People Development:
Mentor and develop team members, fostering their growth and expertise in packaging material science.
QualificationsWhat We Are Looking ForRequired qualifications:
Ph.
D.
or Master's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive experience (8
years) in material development, including program leadership or management roles.
Strong knowledge of packaging material properties, polymer science, and material interactions.
Proficiency in material testing techniques, including mechanical testing, permeability analysis, thermal analysis, and accelerated aging studies.
Strong knowledge of packaging regulations and quality standards within the consumer packaged goods, cosmetics, or healthcare product industryProven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving innovation in packaging materials.
Proficiency in relevant software and tools for data analysis and documentation.
Qualifications:
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
Other:
This position requires up to 10% travel based upon business needs.
